Rankings on their own can mislead. DfE's own guidance says a small year group can swing results (in a group of 10, one pupil is 10%), and that you should weigh a school's context, such as how many pupils are disadvantaged or have SEND, before comparing it (DfE guidance, archived). Read every rank alongside the cohort size, disadvantage and SEND figures shown next to it.
Key Stage 4 Performance
These KS4 2025/26 figures are the DfE's first release. They come before approved school amendments are applied, and the DfE revises them later (DfE, KS4 performance 2025/26).

The DfE cannot calculate Progress 8 for 2024/25 or 2025/26 because these pupils have no KS2 results to measure progress from. Their primary tests were cancelled in 2019/20 and 2020/21 because of COVID-19 (DfE secondary accountability guidance). The DfE says Progress 8 should return for 2026/27.
Commentary Without a progress measure, attainment figures say even less about what a school adds, so context matters more this year.
